Tan Vu Container Terminal is equipped with the most modern equipment in the area of Dinh Vu peninsula - Haiphong including: Container handling gantry cranes and RTG multi-function cranes with load capacity of up to 40 tons; wheel-mounted crane; fork-lift truck with load capacity of up to 45 tons and plenty of means of container transport. The total area of the yard in accordance with the regulation is 32,4 ha with a designed capacity of 1 million TEUS. The area of storage facility is 7,200 m2. The area of refrigerated container yard could accommodate from 800 to 1000 containers.
In order to increase the capacity of container loading, unloading and receiving, which helps to increase the competitiveness in exploitation in the Northern region, in the middle of 2017, Hai Phong Port has equipped 02 QC container handling gantry cranes for loading and unloading at wharf No. 1 of Tan Vu Terminal. These cranes is manufactured in Federal Republic of Germany in 2017. They are specialized types of crane with the handling capacity of up to 50 tons. The cranes for exploiting the vessels could load 14 container lines horizontally and 6 containers in height.

Apply IT, speed up the connection

Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company has recently put the TOS specialized software system (Terminal Operating System) into operation, replacing the Management Information System with the purpose of promoting the roles of production organization and management, enhancing the productivity, competitiveness and management efficiency of the Port.
The TOS software is supported by the Differential Global Positioning System, which is equipped by the Port previously, with the features of wharf planning, ship loading / unloading planning, lifting / lowering plan, container handling at the yard, container position management, terminal operation monitoring, charging, data exchange with customers through EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). The operation of the entire system is implemented through an Operational Center, which connects all operating points and related parts to ensure timely production monitoring and instruction in real time. In addition, the system has the collection of all statistics needed for macro management. The system provides expected and actual data for the procedure department to carry out the tasks of registering for service request and charging for customers under the one door mechanism. TOS software also provides all the information and data for all workstations at the site so that they could together enable smooth on-site container exploitation operations, as well as allow the tracking of the exploitation situation and adjust the exploitation plan according to the reality at the site, based on the validation and adjustment from the workstations.
The specialized TOS software system, successfully connected with the system of the project of monitoring and controlling the import and export goods being into or out of warehouses, yards and Hai Phong Port on the Electronic customs clearance system of the customs office at phase 2, was successfully tested and put into use in September 2017. From now on, all import and export goods being into or out of warehouse, yard and terminals will be supervised on the electronic system of enterprises dealing in warehouses, yards and terminals connected with the system of the customs office. For export-import enterprises, thanks to the connection and exchange of data of declarations and consignments of goods being eligible for going through the customs supervision area by electronic method between these enterprises and customs office, the time for carrying out procedures is reduced. After completing the customs procedures, the import and export enterprises can take goods out of the port regardless of the time of day, which contributes to reducing the required documents.

Continue to invest in depth in the coming years

In 2017, Hai Phong Port shall give priority to the investment in Tan Vu branch on the basis of extensive and in-depth investment. The terminals in Tan Vu area are currently the ones being closest to the sea among the other terminals of Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company.
Hai Phong Port will expand the area of the yard in Tan Vu by 10 hectares, bringing the total area of the warehouse and yard up to 55 hectares to construct the operating building and develop more terminals. Along with the expansion of warehouse and yard space, Tan Vu will continue to invest in the installation of 02 specialized RTG gantry cranes used for container handling with the lift capacity of up to 50 tons in 2018.
Mr. Nguyen Hung Viet - General Director of the Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company, said, "During the next five years, while Hoang Dieu terminal has to be relocated, and Lach Huyen terminal is under construction, Tan Vu terminal is considered as the key one of Hai Phong Port”.
