Berth no. 3 and 4 – Lach Huyen terminal approved to accommodate partially laden vessels of up to 165,000 dwt

On August 14, 2025, the Ministry of Construction issued Official Letter No. 8368/BXD-KCHT approving the policy for Berths 3 and 4 – Lach Huyen Terminal (Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company) to receive container vessels with a capacity of up to 165,000 DWT (partially laden).

The decision was made based on the approved seaport master plan, Report No. 2863/CHHĐTVN-KCHT dated July 8, 2025 by the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration, and the opinions of relevant authorities.

Accordingly:
The Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration is responsible for organizing safety measures, guiding and supervising vessel reception, and strictly inspecting the structural integrity of facilities, maritime safety and security, fire and explosion prevention, and environmental protection in accordance with Decision No. 1731/QĐ-BGTVT dated December 31, 2024.
Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company must strictly comply with the technical safety requirements stated in Official Letter No. 1781/KTQLXD-CCPN dated June 26, 2025; bear full responsibility in case of any incidents; and refrain from requesting the Ministry of Construction to invest in or upgrade public maritime infrastructure in the area.

The approval for Berth No. 3 and 4 – Lach Huyen Terminal to accommodate large-tonnage vessels marks a significant step in enhancing operational capacity, reaffirming the Port of Hai Phong’s role as the gateway for imports and exports in Northern Vietnam and its capability to handle large vessels, thereby contributing to the promotion of logistics activities and international trade.
