The Azimuth tug TUGTRANCO 01 is designed in accordance with the National Technical Regulations on the classification and construction of steel-hulled seagoing vessels, fully complying with all systems for the prevention of marine pollution and the National Technical Regulations on marine safety equipment. The vessel has an overall length of 31.87 meters, a beam of 11.60 meters, a depth of 5.00 meters, and is powered by two main engines of 1,864 kW each (equivalent to 5,000 HP). It is capable of operating in domestic waters, assisting large-tonnage seagoing vessels in berthing and unberthing, towing vessels with limited maneuverability or in distress, supporting newly built vessels from shipyards, standing by for emergency response, and participating in firefighting and rescue operations in coastal areas and deep-water ports.
The investment in building a 5,000 HP Azimuth tug is a strategic move by Hai Phong Port Towage and Transport Joint Stock Company and the Port of Hai Phong to continuously enhance competitiveness and meet the increasingly high demands of the market, particularly in the Lach Huyen deep-water port area. At present, Hai Phong Port Towage and Transport Joint Stock Company directly manages and operates a fleet of 11 vessels with a total capacity of over 17,000 HP, the largest of which has a capacity of 4,600 HP. This project marks the beginning of a plan to develop the tugboat fleet towards greater modernization and professionalism, contributing to reinforcing the position and brand of both the Port of Hai Phong and Hai Phong Port Towage and Transport Joint Stock Company in the field of port operations and maritime services.
