DELEGATION FROM GEMAR GROUP (CUBA) VISITED AND WORKED AT PORT OF HAI PHONG

On November 10, 2025, a high-level delegation from GEMAR Group, led by Mr. Luis Alberto Gonzalez Nieto – Deputy General Director, visited and worked at Port of Hai Phong as part of a business trip from November 10 to 23, 2025, in Vietnam.

 
At the meeting, representatives of Port of Hai Phong presented an overview of their operational capacity, modern infrastructure system, and synchronized logistics system, while affirming the strategic position of Port of Hai Phong as an important maritime gateway for the northern region of Vietnam.




Speaking at the meerting, Mr. Chu Minh Hoang – Deputy General Director of Port of Hai Phong, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the GEMAR working delegation and emphasized the desire to promote international cooperation, especially with GEMAR, through joint research and development projects in the near future.

The GEMAR side presented a list of potential investment opportunities in Cuba, including the fields of seaports, shipbuilding, shipping operations, and logistics. The delegation also expressed interest in establishing International Economic Cooperation (AEI) with Port of Hai Phong to promote the two-way cargo flows between Vietnam and the Caribbean region – where Cuba plays a strategic transshipment role.







At the conclusion of the meeting, the GEMAR delegation visited Hoang Dieu Terminal and Tan Vu Terminal to directly learn about the exploitation activities, operational technology, and infrastructure scale of Port of Hai Phong. The visit activities provided the delegation with a comprehensive view of the  capacity and potential for cooperation of the Port.






The visit of GEMAR holds significant meaning in the context of the two countries aiming to enhance international economic integration. The expansion of maritime cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba is expected to boost bilateral trade, broaden the economic connectivity corridor between Southeast Asia and the Caribbean, and contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries, Vietnam and Cuba.
