On the morning of 7 August, Port of Hai Phong and the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade co-organized a conference connecting manufacturing and import-export enterprises with port operators and shipping lines under the theme “Supply Chain Linkages – Logistics Optimization – Driving Double-Digit Growth,” contributing to the city’s goal of achieving average annual GRDP growth of 13% or higher in accordance with Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU. Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, attended and provided guidance at the conference.

The conference was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Department for Foreign Market Development, the Agency of Foreign Trade, and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade; leaders of the Departments of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa and Quang Ninh provinces; leaders of various municipal departments and agencies; representatives of VCCI – Northern Coastal Branch, the Hai Phong Logistics Association, the Hai Phong Transport Association, and the Hai Phong Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, together with more than 400 delegates representing businesses across the city.
The conference attracted more than 400 delegates representing government agencies, industry associations, and businesses in the manufacturing, import-export, logistics, and port sectors.
The conference aimed to strengthen connections between industrial manufacturing enterprises with annual revenues exceeding VND 1 trillion and import-export enterprises in the industry and trade sector with export turnover of over USD 50 million, and Port of Hai Phong, maritime transport companies, and shipping lines, thereby promoting cooperation in logistics and import-export activities. It also served as a direct platform connecting cargo owners, port operators, shipping lines, logistics companies, and government authorities, enabling stakeholders to better understand one another’s needs, capabilities, and challenges and jointly develop appropriate solutions.
Through the conference, manufacturing and import-export enterprises had the opportunity to exchange information on market conditions, transportation needs, cargo volumes and frequency, as well as service timelines and quality, while port operators and shipping lines gained a better basis for planning routes and vessel schedules, and arranging storage facilities, containers, and supporting services. Direct connectivity among stakeholders will help reduce intermediaries, shorten cargo handling and delivery times, enhance supply chain stability, and gradually reduce logistics costs for businesses.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, emphasized that Hai Phong holds a strategic position in the region’s production, supply, and goods distribution chains. The city serves as a gateway to the sea for many industrial centers and is also the only locality in northern Vietnam where all five modes of transport converge: road, rail, air, maritime, and inland waterway. This represents a key advantage for developing multimodal transport and establishing efficient connections between production areas and domestic and international markets.
At the same time, Hai Phong’s seaport system, particularly the Lach Huyen deep-water port area, together with its increasingly well-developed transport network, has laid a strong foundation for developing an integrated port–industry–trade–logistics value chain, serving not only Hai Phong but the entire northern region.
Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, noted that in the first six months of 2026, Hai Phong’s GRDP grew by 11.33%, ranking third nationwide and leading among centrally governed cities; export turnover was estimated at approximately USD 26 billion, while cargo throughput through the city’s ports exceeded 96 million tonnes, up more than 11% year on year. These results reaffirm that manufacturing, import-export activities, seaports, and logistics continue to be key growth drivers for the city.
The city has also continued to make significant improvements to its investment and business environment, building a facilitative and business-oriented administration. Hai Phong maintained its leading position nationwide in the 2025 PAR Index and SIPAS, while ranking among the top five localities with outstanding economic governance performance according to the 2025 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI).
To ensure the conference delivers tangible results, the Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee called on manufacturing and import-export enterprises, port operators, shipping lines, and logistics companies to strengthen dialogue and connectivity and develop long-term cooperation models, while improving service quality, reducing logistics costs, and expanding transport routes. Business associations were encouraged to continue playing their role as a bridge between stakeholders and providing support to enterprises. The Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade, together with relevant departments, agencies, and local authorities, was urged to promptly listen to and address challenges, improve the investment environment, and create favorable conditions for import-export and logistics activities.
The Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee expressed his confidence that the conference would create more opportunities for meaningful connections and effective cooperation, contributing to the development of supply chains, enhancing the competitiveness of businesses, and advancing the goal of establishing Hai Phong as a modern international logistics hub with global connectivity.
Mr. Le Hong Quan, General Director of Port of Hai Phong JSC, shared solutions for developing an integrated logistics ecosystem and enhancing businesses’ connectivity with global markets.
At the conference, delegates heard a series of presentations from government agencies, businesses, and major shipping lines on the development of logistics, seaports, and import-export activities. Port of Hai Phong JSC presented its approach to developing an integrated logistics ecosystem; MSC Vietnam introduced solutions for connecting businesses with global markets; COSCO Shipping Lines (Vietnam) shared solutions for integrated logistics and sustainable development; and Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) proposed measures to promote logistics and trade between Guangxi, China, and Hai Phong through shallow-draft vessel services via the Binh Luc Canal. In addition, companies including CEH, LG Display Vietnam Hai Phong, LS Vina, and HTM Group shared solutions for digital transformation in logistics, supply chain development, industrial development, export promotion, and investment attraction in industrial clusters.
The presentations highlighted Hai Phong’s potential, advantages, and development orientations in logistics, industry, and exports, while proposing a range of solutions to strengthen collaboration among the authorities, infrastructure operators, logistics companies, manufacturers, and investors, thereby enhancing competitiveness and driving growth.
The conference also featured two panel discussions on the topics “Breakthrough Solutions to Reduce Logistics Costs in the City” and “Solutions to Promote Industrial Development and Exports – Driving Double-Digit Growth in Hai Phong in 2026,” with participation from government agencies, industry associations, and the business community. The discussions focused on exchanging views and proposing solutions to address challenges, improve the efficiency of logistics operations, promote industrial development, and expand exports.

Through the presentations, panel discussions, and business networking activities, numerous opportunities for cooperation were created, laying the groundwork for businesses to strengthen linkages, participate more deeply in global supply and value chains, and contribute to the city’s goal of achieving double-digit economic growth.
As part of the conference, a signing ceremony for Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) was held among participating businesses. The signings marked the beginning of specific cooperation programs, strengthening collaboration in logistics, seaports, industry, and trade, and contributing to the economic development of Hai Phong.
