RMIT University Excursion at Tan Vu Terminal – Port of Hai Phong: Bridging Education with Industry, Unlocking New Opportunities for Collaboration

On the afternoon of April 9, 2025, a goup of 40 staffs and students from RMIT University – one of Vietnam’s leading international higher education institutions from Australia – visited Tan Vu Terminal, a subsidiary of Port of Hai Phong. The visit is a part of a practical learning program designed to provide students with direct exposure to professional working environments and deepen their understanding of port operations and the logistics and supply chain in Vietnam.

During the visit, RMIT visitors was introduced to the over 150-year history of Port of Hai Phong – one of the oldest seaports in the country. They also updated with latest information of the increasingly comprehensive logistics ecosystem of Port of Hai Phong company and the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), which spans from seaport to river port operations, integrated logistics services, vocational training, healthcare, technology, and more.

A highlight of the visit was the discussion on the significant developments taking place in 2025, as Port of Hai Phong begins its first direct collaboration with international educational partners operating in Vietnam – starting with RMIT University.

As a leading seaport operator, Hai Phong Port places great importance on partnering with educational institutions to develop a high-quality workforce, supporting the sustainable growth of Vietnam's logistics industry amid digital transformation and global integration. The collaboration with RMIT is expected to open new avenues for joint development in the near future.

Speaking about the visit, RMIT representatives Dr. Nguyen Canh Lam  and Dr.  Pradeepa Jayaratne expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and the valuable, up-to-date insights shared by Port of Hai Phong. The excursion provided students with a vivid, hands-on perspective of port operations and logistics in Vietnam, while also presenting opportunities for RMIT to expand its industry partnerships and develop training programs closely aligned with the practical needs of the sector.
