Modern 5,000 HP Azimuth Tugboat TUGTRANCO 01
TUGTRANCO 01 was designed and newly built in accordance with international standards, equipped with a state-of-the-art Schottel Azimuth propulsion system capable of 360-degree maneuverability. This enables the tugboat to efficiently assist large vessels entering and leaving deep-water port areas, particularly the Lach Huyen International Gateway Port area.
The vessel is powered by a 5,000 HP main engine, measures nearly 32 meters in length, and is fully integrated with modern maritime safety systems, environmental protection measures, and search-and-rescue support equipment in compliance with current technical regulations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Hong Minh congratulated Port of Hai Phong Towage and Transport Joint Stock Company on officially commissioning its first modern Azimuth tugboat. He emphasized that the investment in TUGTRANCO 01 reflects Port of Hai Phong’s strong commitment to modernizing its fleet, enhancing competitiveness, and meeting the development trends of next-generation port systems as well as the growing demands of international large-tonnage shipping routes.
General Director Mr. Le Hong Quan also acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Company’s management and employees throughout the project implementation process. He stressed that operating advanced tugboat technology requires not only effective management and operational capabilities, but also continued investment in high-quality human resource training to meet increasingly stringent technical and operational standards in the new development phase.
According to the leadership of Port of Hai Phong Towage and Transport Joint Stock Company, TUGTRANCO 01 is a key project with high technical requirements, implemented with strong determination and close coordination among the investor, contractors, and related partners. Bringing the vessel into operation on schedule further demonstrates the Company’s project execution capabilities while opening up new development opportunities in towage and maritime support services.
Currently, the Company manages and operates a fleet of 11 tugboats with a combined capacity of over 17,000 HP. The addition of TUGTRANCO 01 not only strengthens the fleet’s operational capacity but also enables the Company to proactively meet the servicing demands of large container vessels, specialized ships, and rapidly growing international shipping routes in the Hai Phong international gateway port area.
The commissioning ceremony of the Azimuth tugboat TUGTRANCO 01 marks an important milestone in the investment and technological innovation journey of Port of Hai Phong Towage and Transport Joint Stock Company, further reaffirming Port of Hai Phong’s commitment to modern, professional, and sustainable development as it continues its journey toward becoming one of Vietnam’s and the region’s leading seaport enterprises.
