On the afternoon of November 3, at the HTIT Terminal Office (Berths 3 and 4, Lach Huyen), the Port of Hai Phong, in collaboration with the Swedish Delegation under the auspices of the Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi and Business Sweden, successfully organized the “High-level Meeting and Workshop on Green and Smart Port Development.”
Overview of the meeting
The event marked an important milestone in the international cooperation between the Port of Hai Phong, the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), and Swedish partners, aiming to develop a modern, green, and sustainable port system in line with the national seaport development strategy and Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh – Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC); Mr. Chu Minh Hoang – Deputy General Director of the Port of Hai Phong; Mr. Ngo Trung Hieu – General Director of HTIT Port; representatives of the advisory departments of the Port of Hai Phong; as well as representatives from Swedish agencies, organizations, and enterprises.
As part of the event, the Swedish Delegation visited HTIT Terminal (Berths 3–4, Lach Huyen) — one of the most modern deep-water container ports in Northern Vietnam — to gain insights into its operational activities, technological systems, and the region’s logistics infrastructure development potential.
At the workshop, representatives of the Port of Hai Phong’s leadership presented an overview of the port’s terminal system, operational capacity, and management experience. They also shared the port’s development orientation toward green and digital transformation, focusing on the application of smart technologies, clean energy, and automated operating systems to reduce emissions while enhancing productivity and operational efficiency.
In addition, representatives of the Swedish Delegation introduced various advanced technological and financial solutions, including:
- Port of Gothenburg, which shared its successful experience in green transformation;
- SEK, EKN, and Swedfund, which presented preferential financial and insurance mechanisms for green technology investment projects;
- Technology corporations such as Axis Communications, Hitachi Energy, Cavotec, Dellner Bubenzer, and Timars, which showcased electrification, automation, security, and smart energy management systems applied in modern port operations.
Delegates took a commemorative photo at the HTIT Terminal Headquarters (Port of Hai Phong).
The success of the event not only opened up promising opportunities for deeper cooperation between the Port of Hai Phong, VIMC, and Swedish partners but also reaffirmed the Port of Hai Phong’s pioneering role in driving the green and digital transformation of Vietnam’s port industry, towards sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly development.
