HTIT Port (Berths No. 3 and 4 at Lach Huyen) Welcomes MSC’s First Vessel

At 8:30 AM on April 5, 2025, TIL International Terminal Co. Ltd. – Port of Hai Phong (HTIT) held a celebration to welcome the first trial vessel success by Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC). The marine vessel GREENVILLE is registered in Malta with total length of 272 meters, deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 93,787 and expected to have 2,043 TEUs unloaded.

TIL International Terminal Co. Ltd. – Port of Hai Phong (HTIT) is a joint venture between Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company and Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), a leading global port operator owned by MSC. MSC’s decision to conduct its first trial vessel calling HTIT demonstrates the company’s strong interest in the port’s infrastructure, services, and operational capabilities in this region.

The event marks a new milestone for HTIT and Port of Hai Phong in attracting direct international shipping routes to Europe and America, enhancing competitiveness, and affirming their vital role in the global supply chain.

In the first quarter of 2025, Port of Hai Phong recorded remarkable growth in business operations. Despite challenges stemming from global geopolitical instability, unpredictable tariff policies in China and the United States, and long Lunar New Year holidays in China and South Korea, Port of Hai Phong has made significant efforts in marketing strategy, improving service quality, and restructuring its organizational model. As a result, in Q1, the port launched two new service routes calling Tan Vu Terminal. Container throughput increased by 3%, non-container cargo volume rose by 68%, and the volume of automobiles handled at Tan Vu Terminal grew by 50% compared to the same period in 2024. Revenue and profit also saw positive growth.

The successful operating trial of MSC’s first vessel at HTIT not only place a memorable footprint but also inspire a driving force for continued infrastructure improvement and service quality enhancement to meet the increasing demands of international shipping lines. This further strengthens Port of Hai Phong’s position as a strategic maritime gateway for Northern Vietnam.
