On April 15, 2025, Vietnam Maritime Administration issued Decision No. 400/QĐ-CHHĐTVN on the official opening of Berth No. 4, the Barge Wharf, and the Service Wharf – all parts of the Lach Huyen Port area, located in Cat Hai Island, Hai Phong City. These facilities are now authorized to receive both domestic and international vessels for cargo handling and other related maritime services.
The berths are situated within the waters of the seaport under the management of the Hai Phong Maritime Administration, as announced by the Ministry of Transport in Circular No. 23/2019/TT-BGTVT dated June 21, 2019.
Berth No.4 is 375 meters in length and is capable of accommodating fully loaded container vessels up to 100,000 DWT (approximately 8,000 TEUs), in compliance with the infrastructure capacity and safety requirements.
The Barge Wharf is 150 meters long, positioned perpendicular to the container berth, and can handle barges with a capacity of up to 160 TEUs. The Service Wharf (used for tugboat docking) is 50 meters long and runs parallel to the container berth.
With the official operation of Berth No. 3 also underway, Port of Hai Phong is making significant strides toward expanding its reach and affirming its leading position in Vietnam's port system and across the region. Additionally, all necessary operational equipment has been fully deployed and is undergoing inspection and certification to ensure readiness for service.
