On the morning of 14 December 2025, at Berths No. 3 and 4 of Lach Huyen Port (Port of Hai Phong – HTIT), Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company solemnly held a ceremony to welcome the 2-millionth container handled in 2025. This marks the first time in its more than 150 years of establishment and development that Port of Hai Phong has reached a throughput of 2 million TEUs per year, making it the first and only seaport in Northern Vietnam to achieve this remarkable milestone.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of State management authorities, Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), port units within the VIMC system, as well as valued partners and long-standing customers of Port of Hai Phong.
Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh, Chief Executive Officer of Port of Hai Phong, highlighted key achievements of the year and officially announced the handling of the 2-millionth TEU through Port of Hai Phong in 2025.
In his remarks, the CEO emphasized: “The 2-millionth TEU is not only a milestone in terms of throughput, but also a symbol of Port of Hai Phong’s maturity, deep international integration, and aspiration for greater heights in a new era.” This achievement reflects the strategic vision, strong commitment to innovation, and the tireless efforts of more than 4,000 employees across the entire port system.
Mr. Bui Nguyen Khoi, Director of the Hai Phong Maritime Administration, also delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The year 2025 marked a major turning point with the official commissioning of Container Berths No. 3 and 4 at Lach Huyen, significantly enhancing Port of Hai Phong’s capacity to receive large-tonnage vessels, improving operational productivity, and expanding service scale. These developments provided a solid foundation for the entire port system to surpass the 2-million-TEU milestone.
In parallel with infrastructure investment, the port has comprehensively upgraded its equipment and technology systems, accelerated digital transformation in management and operations, and implemented smart port and green port models. These initiatives have helped shorten vessel turnaround time, optimize logistics costs, and enhance overall competitiveness. Close coordination among units across the system has created strong synergy, improving service quality and strengthening Port of Hai Phong’s competitive position in the market.
Alongside modernization efforts, Port of Hai Phong continues to focus on developing a high-quality workforce, expanding its service network, maintaining stable relationships with traditional customers, and attracting additional international container shipping services.

Development Orientation for the upcoming future
Looking ahead, Port of Hai Phong will continue to implement projects to develop new berths at Lach Huyen and Nam Do Son, build a modern logistics center in the Xuan Cau – Lach Huyen free trade zone and Bach Dang Industrial Park, and further promote digital technologies and automation. The port is committed to advancing green port and smart port models, with the goal of sustainable development.
